I promised we'd come back to cells - so what do they look like?

A cell is the building block of life and cells are very small, mostly too small to see with the unaided eye.

Some organisms consist only of single cells. Bacteria and yeast are examples. Here is a picture of some E. coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria:
