What are we made of?

So what are people made of? Come to that, what are all animals and plants made of?

Well, look at yourself... What are you made of? What would you be able to see if you looked inside? What about a plant?

Here are a few of the things you might have said for an animal:

• Skin
• Bone
• Muscle
• Blood
• Liver
• Kidneys
• Brain
• Lungs
• Intestines (guts)

All these are examples of organs or tissues - they are the building blocks of the body. (Organs are made up of tissues - the liver, for example, has a number of tissues - but tissues don't need to be part of organs. Blood is an example of a tissue which isn't part of an organ.)

Here are a few of the things you might have said for a plant:

• Leaves
• Stems
• Flowers
• Roots
• Wood
