Spring 2006

A very Happy New Year to you all. We hope you had an enjoyable Christmas break, have settled back into school routines and are now raring to go for Saturday afternoons at Kingston Explorers. If you haven't made any new year's resolutions yet how about getting more involved with the club. The committee are still in need of willing volunteers. Many of the current committee members have served for several years and will be stepping down at the next AGM. If people do not volunteer, there will be no more Kingston Explorers. So, if you can possibly commit a little of your time to give something back to the organization which, we hope, has helped you and your children, then now would be a good time to do so!

Our planned music session has now been booked for the summer term and we have some other new ideas too, but please do e-mail us with your ideas. We would love to know what subjects interest you and we will do our best to meet your needs. A lot of time and effort goes into producing the web site and it is starting to be visited by a lot of people. We have often asked for contributions from parents or kids, but with no response! We would love to hear the children's views about activities. Tell us what you enjoyed about a particular session. Write a review for anyone who missed it. Send us your pictures, stories or poems - we will put them on the web and you might be famous! Would chocolate be a good incentive to get you scribbling? For the next few months, there will be a bar of chocolate for every child's contribution we use!

Traditionally Kingston Explorers Club has catered for the infant/junior age range and this continues to be its main focus. However, we are aware that a significant number of our members are growing up fast and as such we have invited Jane Hughes from NAGC head office to come along to share her expertise of dealing with the 11+ age range.

Hope to see you at lots of events this term.

On behalf of the committee,

Rebecca Croft
