micro:bit is great as a starter coding toolkit and can be a springboard to more advanced products. Learning to code micro:bit not only teaches soft coding, but also integration with physical hardware.

(*) We have a small supply of microBits, but ideally bring your own, available online for around £16.

What is the micro:Bit?

The BBC micro:bit is a pocket-sized computer that can be coded, customised and controlled to bring digital ideas, games and apps to life. Measuring 4cm by 5cm, and designed to be fun and easy to use, the micro:bit can create anything from games and animations to scrolling stories at school, at home and on the go - all that is needed is imagination and creativity!

It’s incredibly versatile with several different coding platforms; Bluetooth connectivity and hard connections that enable a wide range of accessories to be used with it; a 25 LED display screen; and, an on-board accelerometer and compass that allows it to respond to movement. (Read More)

The aim is to push beyond the curriculum, to have time to tinker, to learn to work in a team and above all to make friends with like-minded techies and boffs. Each week will look at a new topic in science, technology, engineering and maths with an emphasis on hands-on projects. Each Sunday is stand-alone. Numbers are limited. If you are interested in joining please reply to this email. Cost per child per session £20.
